Εξακόσια ογδόντα λογοτεχνικά και σχολικά βιβλία ήταν το αποτέλεσμα της πρωτοβουλίας των μαθητών ΙΒ, που συμμετέχουν στο Social Welfare Club, σε μία προσπάθειά τους να υποστηρίξουν τη λειτουργία των βιβλιοθηκών στον Δενδροπόταμο. Η συλλογή των βιβλίων πραγματοποιήθηκε την πρώτη εβδομάδα του Δεκεμβρίου και κορυφώθηκε στο χριστουγεννιάτικο bazaar του σχολείου με πολύ μεγάλη συμμετοχή μαθητών και καθηγητών.
Με την ολοκλήρωση της καταμέτρησης, τα παιδιά παρέδωσαν τα βιβλία στην οργάνωση «Ο Φάρος του Κόσμου», το Κέντρο προστασίας και στήριξης ανηλίκων που δραστηριοποιείται στη Δυτική Θεσσαλονίκη, και στον ιδρυτή του Πατέρα Αθηναγόρα. Η πρωτοβουλία οργανώθηκε στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος CAS του ΙΒ.
Share a book, share an adventure
a project in the context of the Social Welfare CAS activity
Books do not offer just entertainment; they are a source of “wisdom” and knowledge, and we have been very lucky to have grown up with our bookshelves filled with adventures. Now it’s somebody’s else turn to chase the White Rabbit, find out where Captain Nemo’s submarine is hidden, and discover Gondor’s biggest secret.
And so, we organized a book drive, for the students and teachers of our school, and planned to offer the collected books to the NGO “Beacon of the World (Φάρος του Κόσμου)”, an organization catering for the needs of young Rom people. We placed boxes around campus, and waited to see them fill with wild adventures. The result surprised us, and started paving the way for more actions to come:)
We had collected 680 books! On the 22nd of December, in a spirit of excitement Father Athinagoras, the founder of the NGO, visited our school and collected the adventures-filled boxes!
